Project Overview
Lithium Battery Upgrade for Industrial UPS Backup Systems
This project was developed for POSCO Group, South Korea’s largest steel company. The objective was to replace lead-acid batteries with lithium iron phosphate batteries across more than three steel plants.
The battery systems include a 115V 100Ah LiFePO₄ system integrated with existing rectifiers and a 230V 40Ah LiFePO₄ UPS system supporting up to 4C high-rate discharge with 15 minutes of backup time.
Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, the lithium battery replacement solution is designed to provide smaller size, longer lifespan, faster charging and discharging, and lower overall cost for industrial UPS backup applications.
